Sustainability

We have been operating an energy management system that is ISO 50001 certified since 2014. The environmental management certification according to ISO 14001 followed in 2019. From 2019 to 2022, CO2 emissions were reduced by 43% through appropriate measures (Scope 1 to 3). Since 2021, our production at the site has been climate-neutral; Scope 1 and 2 have been 100% neutralized.

Continuous improvement processes and innovation projects help to conserve resources and to strengthen the sustainability. We are aware of our responsibility and will do everything to conserve an intact living environment for our children.

Award “Partner of the Berchtesgadener Land biosphere region”

The Berchtesgadener Land has been recognized by UNESCO as a biosphere region due to its special natural and cultural landscape with high biodiversity and its establishment as a model region for sustainable development. People are at the heart of this and are tasked with maintaining the future viability of the region in line with the sustainability goals of the United Nations' Agenda 2030.

As a “Partner of the Berchtesgadener Land biosphere region”, we demonstrably implement numerous sustainability measures in our business processes, focus on continuous improvement, are committed to fulfilling the biosphere goals and act as ambassadors for the biosphere region. We understand sustainable management to mean taking into account economic, ecological and social concerns as well as the connection to the region and regional value creation in our actions and business activities.

Together with the other partners of the biosphere region and the biosphere administration office, we want to help shape and promote sustainable development in Berchtesgadener Land in line with the motto “We are biosphere!” - for a sustainable today and tomorrow!

Energy

Continuous improvement processes and innovation projects help to conserve resources and to strengthen the sustainability.

The whole company is heated using energy from heat recovery systems, for example. For cooling and air conditioning we use well water.

With our own photovoltaic system we generate electricity for our production, in this way we reduce the consumption of resources and minimize CO2 emissions.

Recycling

Recycling plastic waste, using reusable packaging and efficient transport logistics go without saying in our company.

Resource-sparing handling of raw materials as well as minimizing waste for ecologic and economic reasons is of vital importance to us.

Our natural habitat

As a regional company in the Berchtesgadener Land biosphere region, Hörl is keen to make its contribution to preserving biodiversity in the region and to assume ecological responsibility.

Based on an idea concept from the administrative office of the biosphere region, landscape gardener Kerstin Tusl has implemented the near-natural redesign of the approx. 500 m² area on the company premises. Various new habitats have been created on the wild bee area: Water in the form of a pond, dry stone walls, dead wood, a pile of stones, a rough pasture, a meadow and a gravel lawn.

Occupational health and safety

The occupational health and safety of our employees also plays an important role in our company.

HÖRL has a comprehensive and certified occupational health and safety management system and is regularly audited by the employers' liability insurance association for raw materials and the chemical industry.
